Overview
Mark Marston and Amanda Shields bicycle rode 850 kilometres from Adelaide to Melbourne commencing Oct 16th 2013 and finishing 18th November 2013. We visited 12 schools where we conducted our “Kids with a Vision” Vision Board workshop with the aim of inspiring to children to align with their personal values, identify and follow their passions, give gratitude regularly and set short and long term goals.
Hundreds of children partook and created vision boards. We also received logistical and financial assistance from 15 Rotary and Lions Groups along the route. All up we raised $13,000 for Little Heroes Foundation and had an amazing life experience.
The project took 6 months full time to organise and execute. Over 150 organisations were contacted. The project role modeled to children that if you have a clear goal and that if you are prepared to take action and overcome the inevitable barriers that arise, you can bring your goals to fruition.
Several schools elected to embrace the project including Dimboola Primary School. They organised a Heroes Day where students dressed as an inspiring Hero or someone they wanted to be when they grow up. The students presented their work to parents and the community.
